Tara - 'earth homage' finished

Description

This Tara has been a difficult one to work on. I have taken reference from the 'Thousand-arm Tara' of the Buddhist pantheon. I wanted to suggest a sense of the need for full attention.....from care with personal relationships to care for the earth our home. I have used a patina that reminds me of living growing organisms. The finish is quite confronting.

Her arms appear to loop in a half circle. They move from the earth to above her head.
I wanted to suggest a building and then receding energy. An energy that, like a clock, moves in a continuous circle. There is no beginning or end but like a wave is drawn to the shore and then disperses in another form only to be raised again and fall again to the sea. Each of her hands symbolizes a movement in time and represents a different aspect of our soul’s development.

With each hand gesture this contemporary Tara expresses welcome, bringing in, gathering, absorbing, breathing in. An energy much like an embrace.

Another hand represents relinquishing, letting go, offering.

The third hand suggests will, purpose, intention, and movement.

The fourth represents the epiphany, the clock strikes 12.
The zenith has been reached and there is illumination.

The fifth and final hand is a farewell, an enfolding and returning to the earth. A clear reminder that the earth is our foundation.

Thank you pathworking for your continued support and valued insight.
